Description

Dataset of Chilasa butterfly specimens deposited at Museum Zoologi Bogor, Indonesia

Purpose

This dataset is one of the results of BIFA project about Indonesian papilionid butterflies at MZB Indonesia. This is published to GBIF as a contribution of MZB / InaBIF.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

Indonesian butterfly specimens at MZB

Sampling

Butterfly specimens were sorted and identified to species level. Then they were arranged geographically and their data on the labels were entered into Excel. Selected specimens were photographed showing upperside and underside with all available labels shown.

Quality Control

Curatorial works are conducted during the process. Data checking and mapping were performed according to the standard Darwin Core.

Method steps

  1. Butterfly specimens were sorted and identified to species level. Then they were arranged geographically according to subspecies if exist. The data on the labels were entered into Excel. Specimens, male and female if available, are selected to represent the subspecies, and they were photographed showing upperside and underside with all available labels shown. The specimens were then arranged into new drawers, complete with QR code label.
