Description

The Uluguru mountains is part of the Eastern Arc Mountains, which STARTS from Taita Hills in Kenya to the Udzungwa mountain in south central Tanzania with altitude rising up to 2,630 meters (8,600 ft.). The Bunduki gap separates Uluguru North and uluguru south. It is located in Morogoro Municipality and Morogoro rural district and Mvomero Districts, all in Morogoro Region in Eastern Tanzania. The UNFR covers approximately 27,000 ha and it is located on latitude 6° 51’– 7° 01’ S and longitude 37° 37’–37° 45’ E approximately 180 km from the Indian Ocean

Uluguru Nature Reserve comprises the former Uluguru North, Uluguru South, Bunduki I and Bunduki II forest reserves and Bunduki ‘gap’ corridor, where the forest is being restored on former farmland to provide for biological connectivity between northern and southern parts of the Nature Reserve.
