This dataset contains the first to fourth surveys of Capercaillie Tetrao urogallus in Britain, carried out under the Statutory Conservation Agencies/RSPB Annual Breeding Birds Scheme (SCARABBS).

Capercaillie distribution in Britain is restricted to Scotland where it is closely associated with Scots Pine Pinus sylvestris and Blaeberry Vaccinium myrtilus. Therefore the national survey was concentrated in Scotland.
