The dataset holds Chough sightings data from Northern Ireland recorded by RSPB staff. The one 2007 record is the summary data for that year, apart from this all the other records are individual records. The dataset contains multiple sightings of the same bird and the young birds are also included in the count. In Northern Ireland there has been one breeding pair up to 2010. During April 2010 the male from this pair died. A male from the previous year's brood (2009) appeared and has accompanied the surviving female until October 2010.
Purpose
The purpose of the data capture is to understand the behaviour of the chough, to determine most important habitat for the birds and to aid appropriate habitat management. It is hoped that the Chough population in Northern Ireland will expand.
