Description

The UWYMV Herp Collection houses mainly historic specimens from the early to mid-1900s, with the majority of specimens collected from the state of Wyoming, including specimens of Wyoming Toads (Anaxyrus baxteri) collected by Baxter on the Laramie plains. The collection has recently begun to take in modern specimens, including genetic samples.

Purpose

The mission of the University of Wyoming Museum of Vertebrates is to document and understand regional and global biodiversity through the acquisition and investigation of collections made by museum faculty, staff, and students to advance academic knowledge and public appreciation of the natural world.
