El efecto de las especies invasoras sobre las especies nativas es uno de los temas centrales de la biología de la conservación actualmente, una de las principales causas del movimiento o traslado de las especies de peces a ha sido la intensificación de la acuicultura con especies de uso ornamental y de producción de carne, esto esta ocasionando que un gran número de especies accidentalmente e intencionalmente se agreguen a los ecosistemas acuáticos naturales en el estado de Morelos, provocando alteraciones a la estructura de la comunidad íctica nativa de esta parte de la cuenca del río Balsas. En este proyecto se pretende evaluar las poblaciones de peces invasoras establecidas en la región hidrológica Amacuzac, con el fin de conocer la estructura poblacional de las especies exóticas establecidas, estado de invasión, proponer acciones de prevención y manejo, así como proporcionar una base de datos pormenorizada que de cuenta de total de las especies invasoras establecidas en la región.
