Seed Collection of Crops and Crops’ Wild Relatives (CWRs) of Armenia

Description

The first genetic bank of plants in RA was created as a result of the research expeditions organized every year in different zones of RA, which today has the largest collection both in terms of quantity and species composition. The Seed Genetic Bank of Crops and Crops’ Wild Relatives of the Scientific Centre of Agrobiotechnology of the Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU) of the Republic of Armenia stores more than 6000 seed accessions, which are a strategic repository and at the same time serves as an initial breeding material. The seed collection includes cereals, legumes, vegetables, fruits, fodder, medical and aromatic plants.
