Sampling Description
Study Extent
Fosen peninusla, between 1979-82Sampling
All vascular plants and bryophytes were recorded using the Domin scale. The species cover were recorded in various field layers (A-H) which are denoted in the 'study extent' column: A= trees (>3 m height), B= shrubs (1-3 m), C= herb layer (woody plants), D= herb layer (herbs), E= herb layer (graminoids), F= bottomlayer (mosses), G= bottomlayer (liverworts), H= bottomlayer (lichens)." In the releve extension, "Cryptogam cover" is substitute for bottom layer cover, including mosses, liverworts and lichens, in lack of a more suiting Darwin Core term.Method steps

Geographic Coverages
The Fosen peninsula is north west of Trondheim in Central Norway. Bjugn municipality is located in the west of the peninsula. The peninsula consists of numerous valleys and mountains reaching about 500-600 m a.s.l., incised by several fjords. Spruce is established on most of the available sites with suitable soils in the interior region. The timberline is usually made up of conifers. Wooded areas along the northwestern coast are mostly covered by birch and other unexacting decidious trees.
