Description

All records of vertebrates (except birds, INNS and otters) from the Outer Hebrides recorded up to 31 December 2022. Includes records collected directly from individual recorders and those collected by the Highland Biological Recording Group (HBRG). Please refer to OHBR website (www.ohbr.org.uk) or contact admin@ohbr.org.uk OHBR maintains a regional database of records of the flora, fungi and fauna of the Outer Hebrides and the surrounding marine areas.

Data do not have comprehensive geographic or taxonomic coverage.

Method steps

  1. Field records submitted to OHBR and HBRG, with some records extracted from literature. Recording is mostly casual and records received from individual recorders undergo validation and are verified in accordance with OHBR policy.

The vice-county of the Outer Hebrides and the surrounding marine areas (in the wider sense) and reflects observer location and activity. The majority of records are shown at six-figure grid references, but precision may vary considerably
