Occurrence of wild and cultivated yams (Dioscorea sp.) observed in West Africa and Madagascar during IRD sampling campaigns from 1996 to 2015. Plants were initially collected for genetic/genomic analyses.Additional info
"Data collected by Scarcelli N. (IRD), Tostain S. (IRD), Akakapo R. (IRD), Chaïr H. (CIRAD) and Obidiegwu J. (NRCRI), in collaboration with Baco M.N. (Parakou University), Otoo E. (CSIR-CRI), Sonké B. (Yaoundé I University), Magwé-Tindo J. (Yaoundé I University), Rejo-Fienena F. (Toliara University), Jeannoda V. (Antananarivo University), Dansi A. (Dassa-Zoumé University), Djedatin G. (Dassa-Zoumé Université), Daïnou O. (Abomey-Calavi University), Agbangla C. (Abomey-Calavi University), Pham J.L. (IRD) and Vigouroux Y. (IRD). 2014 and 2015 samplings were funded by ANR (project AFRICROP, ANR-13-BSV7-0017), with support from GeT core facility (Toulouse, France http://get.genotoul.fr), the ANR project ANR-10-INBS-09, the ARCAD project funded by the Agropolis foundation and the FEDER program. These samplings were conducted in order to analyse the domestication of cultivated yam. 2010 and 2011 samplings were funded by IRD and Agropolis Foundation through the ""Investissements d'avenir"" program (ANR-10-LABX-0001-01) under the reference ID 1202-040 (project CHLORODIV). Their objectives were to analyse the intra-specific diversity and structure of cultivated yam. 2002 and 2003 samplings were funded by IRD and the BRG (Bureau des Ressources Génétiques). The objectives were to analyse the genetic diversity of wild and cultivated yams and the relation between them. 1996 to 2002 samplings were funded by IRD, IPGRI and Abomey-Calavi University. The aim was to study the repartition of wild and cultivated yams in West Africa. 2006 to 2008 samplings in Madagascar were funding by IRD and Toliara University. Their aim was to analyse the repartition and genetic diversity of wild yams in the South of Madagascar."Taxonomic Coverages
