Description

This data set is a part of the database “Vegetation relevés in temperate forest region of European Russia” (DOI: 10.15468/gohlb5) and includes 234 vegetation relevés sampled at temporal plots (commonly 10 × 10 m) which are located in northeast of the Kostroma Region including the Kologrivsky Les State Nature Reserve. The relevés describe hemiboreal forest communities of various stand ages and tree species composition. There are old-growth forests dominated by Picea abies, Abies sibirica and Tilia cordata as well as young and middle-aged mixed forests with Populus tremula, Betula spp. and Pinus sylvestris; after cutting areas are also presented. Here we provide only basic information about sample plots and associated vascular plant species occurrences because now the Darwin Core standard doesn't have the terminology for storing sizes of individual trees, stand-level inventory data, and characteristics of vegetation layers. The full information is available via the European Vegetation Archive (EVA; http://euroveg.org/eva-database; EU-RU-014). Data processing was supported by a GBIF - FinBIF data mobilization grant for European Russia (Russia-02).
