The tropical ermine moth genus Atteva Walker, 1854 is characterised by a vivid ground colour and an intricate pattern of white spots on the forewing, which often complicates species-level identification. Currently, only 52 species have been reported worldwide, with 20 species are known from the Oriental Region. Two species, A. niveigutta Walker, 1854 and A. sciodoxa Meyrick, 1908, are newly recorded in Laos for the first time, supported by morphological characteristics and DNA barcodes.
