Description

Results of a knotweed survey within the greater Fort William area

Purpose

Provide overview of the distribution of non-native knotweed in Fort William for the Highland Council and SNH as a first step in potential management activity

Sampling Description

Quality Control

Good confidence that most knotweed plants in the Fort William area were captured during the survey, though areas of private property that could not be viewed from public land may not have been comprehensively surveyed. The data have been checked using the NBN record cleaner

Method steps

  1. Search of all accessible areas within the survey boundary for the presence of knotweed. The species and location of knotweed was recorded by an experienced surveyor using handheld GPS device
