Description

Nine replicate quantitative samples were collected from 3 sites in the lower Waiau River as part of Meridian Energy’s consent conditions, and 9 samples from a comparison site in the Mararoa River above the Manapouri Diversion. Samples have been collected annually (roughly) since 1997. A fourth site in the Lower Waiau (Weir) was surveyed up until 2002, after which the Mararoa site was added. Average abundance (9 samples pooled) of each taxon encounted at each site / date combination is reported on a 1 (rare) to 5 (abundant) scale.
