The dataset contains records of the registration of 113 species and 2 subspecies of birds from 32 families and 15 orders collected within Donetsk region (2 records were made in Kharkiv region). Ornithofauna studies were conducted mainly in the northern part of Donetsk region (surroundings of the cities of Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Sviatohirsk, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Chasiv Yar, etc.). The majority of the material was collected in the territories of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine - regional landscape parks "Kramatorskyi", "Slovyansky resort", "Kleban-Byk", national nature parks "Holy Mountains", "Meotyda", branches of the Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve "Stone graves" and "Cretaceous flora", sanctuaries of local significance, etc. A significant part of the data set consists of materials of registrations of diurnal predators.Sampling Description
Study Extent
The main part of the material was collected during bird route counts on foot. The dataset also includes episodic registrations of birds and records of diurnal birds of prey during road transport and stops of various durations. The information presented within the dataset was collected in the period from 2020 to 2022 within the territory of Donetsk and Kharkiv regions of Ukraine.Sampling
In all cases, the coordinates of each bird registration (group of birds) were recorded using the NextGIS Mobile mobile application and a specially configured form. Geographic coordinates were specified using a GPS navigator in decimal degrees according to the WGS84 coordinate system. The number of birds was necessarily noted. For the vast majority of bird registrations, the perpendicular distance in meters, the biotope in which the bird was observed, behavioral features (flying, sitting, vocalizing, feeding, hunting, mating behavior, aggression, gathering material for the nest) were determined. In some cases, the morph (for the pygmy eagle) and the subspecies (for the common buzzard) were recorded. Observations were made using 12X binoculars. Photographs were taken whenever possible. The Latin names of bird species are given according to the list agreed by BirdLife International and used in the electronic version of the Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW and BirdLife International 2018).Quality Control
The author bears full responsibility for the quality of the data presented in the published dataset.Method steps
