Clyde Breeding Bird Tetrad Atlas 1985 - 1991 - non-sensitive species

Dataset homepage

Description

Records for all bird species for which breeding was recorded during the 7 survey years 1985-1991. Records of birds recorded as "present but not breeding" in the original survey dataset are not included here as they do not relate to breeding birds.

Purpose

The aim of the survey was to build a complete picture of all the breeding birds of the Clyde recording area during 1985-91 at tetrad scale. Much of the survey work was carried out at the same time as the BTO national breeding atlas.

Sampling Description

Quality Control

The data are of high quality, having been checked and verified by the Clyde recorder and the Clyde Atlas Working Group.

Method steps

  1. Data were collected during systematic surveys of all the tetrads in the Clyde recording area. All records have been validated by the Clyde recorder and/or the Clyde Tetrad Atlas group. All records are geo-referenced at the tetrad (2x2 km scale).

Taxonomic Coverages

Geographic Coverages

All records come from the Clyde Recording area (see The SOC Website) which comprises South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire, City of Glasgow, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, Stirlingshire (Clyde/Loch Lomond drainage areas, the Campsie Fells, and Carron Valley Reservoir), Argyll & Bute (former Dunbartonshire part, i.e. Loch Lomond/Clyde drainage including east side of Loch Long to Arrochar (then Loin Water as boundary). Recording effort was spread evenly across the entire recording area, with all tetrads visited on several occasions.
