Se realizará un estudio con duración de 30 meses, enfocado a sentar las bases para la conservación y monitoreo de anfibios en riesgo de extinción en Chiapas. Dicho estudio se realizará en tres fases. En la primera, se establecerá una línea base de conocimiento de los anfibios de Chiapas, conformándose un listado de especies, con datos de localidad precisa, con base en registros de campo, de 1950 a la fecha, de presencia/ausencia de especies de anfibios de Chiapas. En la segunda fase, resultado de un taller de análisis con la participación de expertos nacionales y extranjeros en estudios sobre monitoreo de anfibios, se desarrollará, validará y difundirá un protocolo normalizado para el monitoreo de anfibios. La tercera fase considera implementar la actividad de monitoreo piloto de las especies y poblaciones de anfibios seleccionadas. Los resultados incluyen: la integración de una base de datos con todos los registros de campo (previos y generados en campo durante el desarrollo del proyecto); un banco de imágenes sobre todas las especies seleccionadas y las características generales de los sitios muestreados; lista actualizada de las especies de anfibios con distribución en el Estado de Chiapas. Con base en las amenazas detectadas para las especies de anfibios estudiadas, el informe final, incluye un documento con recomendaciones factibles para la conservación y manejo de las especies y de sus hábitats en las diferentes regiones de Chiapas.
