The dataset includes a list of vascular plant species registered on the territory of the Voronezh State Nature Reserve (Russian Federation, Lipetsk and Voronezh Regions) from 1929 to 2019. Various researchers studied the Reserve flora. In 1938, Maria V. Nikolaevskaya published a list of 537 vascular plants species. By 1946, she had noted about 730 species in the protected area. In 1946-1947, special floristic studies were carried out by Sergey V. Golitsyn; he identified 973 species for the Reserve and the area along the railway crossing the protected area (Голицын, 1961). Since 1988, Elena Starodubtseva has been studying the Reserve flora. The annotated flora list (Стародубцева, 1999) published in 1999 included 969 species directly on the Reserve territory and 69 species in the zone along the railway crossing the Reserve (this territory is not included in the protected area). Over the next 20 years, a large number of new species were identified as a result of annual monitoring of the species composition of vascular plants. According to the data for 2019, the list of flora includes 1,051 species registered directly on the territory of the Reserve.Taxonomic Coverages

Geographic Coverages
Voronezh reserve is located in the northern part of the Usmanskiy woodland - an island forest in the forest-steppe zone of the Russian Federation. The total area of the reserve is 310 km2. The territory is located on the western edge of the Oka-Don Plain and belongs to the forest-steppe zone. It’s really a big island of woody vegetation, surrounded by agricultural lands and settlements. The reserve is largely situated within the Voronezh River valley and includes the floodplain on the left side and the sandy terraces above the floodplain which were formed in the Quaternary. It should be noted that Usmanskiy pine forest does not represent the typical nature of the zone in which it is located, but extrazonal and intrazonal natural complexes. The modern vegetation cover of the reserve is represented by broad-leaved (mainly oak) forests, pine forests, aspen forests, birch forests and alders, as well as wet and dry meadows, various swamps in floodplains of rivers and on terraces. Many species of plants are found on the territory on the northern or southern border of their range.
