Description

Records of orchids recorded during the Flora of Glasgow Project (c. 1984 to 1999). Species recorded and mapped at the Tetrad level, within a rectangle of 18x20km (90 tetrads) covering the Greater Glasgow area.

Quality Control

Records vetted by staff at University and BSBI VC recorders. Many critical species verified by appropriate BSBI experts.

Method steps

  1. Field records made by various recorders from Glasgow University (Botany Department) and Glasgow Natural History Society. Old (pre 1980) records extracted from literature or herbarium collections Glasgow University (Herb GL) or Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum (GLAM).

Geographic Coverages

Greater Glasgow (SW: NS5056 to NE: NS7074) with a few additional records from adjoining squares, if of note. The records were collected with 2km grid references, in some cases sufficient location detail was recorded to permit the assignment of a (100m) site-centroid grid reference.
