Description

STERNA (Semantic Web-based Thematic European Reference Network Application, http://www.sterna-net.eu) aims to develop a capacious database on birds according to the objectives of a European Digital Library (EDL) and its portal Europeana (www.europeana.eu). As a content provider, RMCA has established a plan to disseminate information regarding a selection of ornithological publications and specimens from its African Biology Department: the most important data set contains the 131 photographed name-bearing types (2009) among its type specimens of birds, of which a detailed list has been published in 2002 in the form of a catalogue (Louette et al., 2002), which has been electronically updated in 2010. This RMCA’s BioCASE portal can be found at: http://193.190.223.47/biocase_rmca/querytool/main.cgi?dsa=STERNA_gbifmapping References: (i) Louette, M., D. Meirte, A. Louage & A. Reygel, 2002.
