Description

This catalogue reproduces a list of occurrences of macromycetes in continental Portugal that have been published or otherwise reported since 1997, with a few earlier additions.

Purpose

The information on macromycetes in Portugal is disperse, outdated and limited in scope: the main landmark is the checklist on boletoids and agaricoids prepared by the extinct Centro de Micologia in 2002, covering occurrences until 1997, and without precise geographic references. The recent increase in research on macromycetes urges to the transposition of reported data to publicly available resources such as GBIF.

Method steps

The original data were supplemented with an investigation of precise locations by the authors. Nomenclatural updates and spelling corrections were introduced.

Taxonomic Coverages

All macromycetes were identified at least to species level. No inclusion of approximate records (cf., aff, sp., etc.). All mispellings have been corrected. Nomenclatural updates are maintained based on the indexfungorum database (http://www.indexfungorum.org)
