Weevil and Bark Beetle records via iRecord

Dataset homepage

Citation

Weevil and Bark Beetle Recording Scheme (2025). Weevil and Bark Beetle records via iRecord. Occurrence dataset https://doi.org/10.15468/yvgrpk accessed via GBIF.org on 2025-05-22.

Description

This dataset contains all weevil and bark beetle records available via iRecord - these records may originate from direct addition of records to iRecord, or via other datasets that have been made available via iRecord for verification purposes. Some of the records are unverified and this needs to be taken into account in any use of this data.

Purpose

The purpose of this dataset is to add to the knowledge and understanding of weevils and bark beetles. We hope it will help encourage recording of this group and aid in efforts to conserve weevils and their habitats.

Sampling Description

Quality Control

The route by which data arrives in iRecord can vary, and comes from recorders with a wide range of experience. Many, but not all, of the records have been verified by volunteer experts associated with the Weevil and Bark Beetle Recording Scheme. Records of common species are usually accepted without question unless there is evidence that they are incorrect.

Method steps

  1. Records in this dataset come from numerous sources and have been collected using a range of methods. The majority of records are likely to be field observations.
