Mosses of the ranges Azhendarovskij and Saltymakovskij (Salair-Kuznetsk region)

Description

The dataset includes a list of moss species registered on the ranges Azhendarovskij and Saltymakovskij. These are low forested ridges jutting into the Kuznetsk Basin from the Kuznetsk Alatau side. The ridges are stacked with basalts. The vegetation is represented by chernevaya taiga and tall-herbaceous meadows. In the three surveyed plots 70 species were noted in sum. Samples are in NSK (USU 440537). The work is under support of RFBR № 18-04-00822.

Taxonomic Coverages

Geographic Coverages

These geological formations are the edges of a large Permian basaltic trough. They rise over the adjacent territories 200-400 m, their maximum heights are 445 and 720 m, respectively. The ridges protrude into the Kuznetsk depression and stand out strongly against of its landscapes by the features of the relief, climate and vegetation. The annual precipitation here is almost twice as high as in the adjacent areas of the Kuznetsk Basin. The indigenous vegetation is represented by chernevaya taiga and tall-herbaceous meadows and is more similar to the vegetation of the Kuznetsk Alatau. Investigated plots are:
1) Mungat and Kajbala uprivers, northern part of Azhendarovskij range - 54°42’ N, 86°52’ E; altitude 200-370 m. 2) Inyushka and Mungat watershed, southern part of Azhendarovskij range, 54°36’ N, 86°52’ E; altitude 250-340 3) A watershed at the western end of Saltymakovskij range - 54°44’ N, 87°12’ E; altitude 520-580 m.
