Base de datos sobre los hongos anamorfos de restos de vegetales del bosque mesófilo del estado de Veracruz

A pesar de su importancia ecológica, extensa diversidad y potencial biotecnológico, los hongos microscópicos saprobios han sido pobremente estudiados en nuestro país. A nivel mundial la mayoría de los programas y textos sobre la biodiversidad en el territorio nacional no consideran las poblaciones microscópicas. Las especies anamorfas (hongos a los que no se les ha encontrado fase sexual) son las mejor representadas entre los hongos microscópicos, constituyen un grupo altamente diverso que prolifera tanto en ambientes naturales como domésticos. En la naturaleza, los restos vegetales son sustratos idóneos para su desarrollo, prueba de esto es el alto número de taxones nuevos descritos en los últimos años. En particular los bosques mesófilos de montaña (BMM), por su clima y alta producción y acumulación de hojarasca, son ecosistemas que favorecen el desarrollo de los hongos anamorfos. Ante la constante reducción de las escazas áreas de bosque mesófilo que aun quedan en el país es urgente incrementar exploraciones biológicas encaminadas al conocimiento del germoplasma que en dicho bioma prospera. En el estado de Veracruz, en los últimos 20 años la superficie con BMM ha disminuido dramáticamente, las pocas áreas conservadas han quedado confinadas a pequeños manchones, generalmente en cañadas y sitios poco accesibles. Esta propuesta tiene como objetivo incrementar el conocimiento sobre la diversidad de los anamorfos del BMM del estado de Veracruz, para lo cual se realizarán colectas en diversas zonas, abarcando áreas boscosas del norte, centro y sur de la entidad. Paralelamente como objetivos particulares se exponen los siguientes: a) incrementar las colecciones de laminillas microscópicas para el herbario de Hongos del INECOL (XAL). b) incrementar el acervo del banco de imágenes de microfotografías, c) continuar con la capacitación de recursos humanos y d) publicar nuevos registros y nuevas especies en revista especializadas.
