Viter S (2022). Some finds of birds, mammals, insects, amphibians and reptiles within the Donetsk administrative region of Ukraine in 1997 - 2011. Version 1.3. Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group (NGO). Occurrence dataset https://doi.org/10.15468/edt8pz accessed via GBIF.org on 2023-03-25.

Description

The database includes finds of birds (Aves), mammals (Mammalia), insects (Insecta), amphibians (Amphibia) and reptiles (Reptilia) within the Donetsk administrative region of Ukraine.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

The surveys covered: - Pridintsivskyj northern districts of Donetsk region; - Regional Landscape Park "Kramatorskyj", Bilokuzminivske section; - The city of Donetsk and the area around the reservoir "Donetsk Sea"; - The valley of the river Kalmius between the village. This dataset was prepared and published with the help of the Olin gGmbH foundation to preserve data on the biodiversity of Ukraine obtained by the Ukrainian scientists, who were forced to leave their homeland due to the war (Russia's invasion of Ukraine). Olin gGmbH is a funding organization for environmental protection and conservation that supports environmental and sociopolitical organizations.

Sampling

Studies of the species composition and number of birds, mammals, insects, amphibians and reptiles were conducted on routes (from 1000 m to 30 km) and in the survey of registered areas (from 10 ares to 5000 ha). In the northern part of the region hiking trails are about 100 km. Observations were also carried out while traveling in the region by road (private car, bus) and rail.

Quality Control

The author is fully responsible for the quality of data provided within the dataset.

Method steps

  1. Conducting of field surveys on the routs and investigation sites.
