Description

Terrestrial, freshwater and marine molluscs collected at a variety of sites across Trinidad & Tobago by P. Wagenaar Hummelinck. Specimens were originally deposited at the University of Utrecht, then moved to the University of Amsterdam before being returned to Trinidad where they were identified, catalogued by Mike G. Rutherford and then added to The University of the West Indies Zoology Museum collections.

Description of collecting by Hummelinck “Collecting was done single-handed and often rather incidentally, as a rule with no other equipment than a knife, forceps, a beetle-sieve and a fine-meshed dip-net, the author confining himself to those places which presumably would yield a more or less representative sample within a short time.”

Quality Control

Specimen identifications were checked by the UWIZM.

1. Specimens in the collection were assessed for existing data (pinned labels, etc.) 2. Identifications were confirmed or made using a variety of literature sources (scientific papers, books, online resources) 3. Specimens were were photographed and properly stored tenth data was uploaded to the UWIZM past perfect database.
