Description

Data about Pipistrellus kuhlii subsp. lepidus colonies in Ukraine, 2013-2020. 39 winter colonies of P. kuhlii (1302 individuals totally). 19 of them were groups from 2 to 641 individuals. Dataset also contains data about weight and forearm measurements for each bat. To obtain it, download the Source Darwin Core Archive.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

The area from which records were obtained included settlements in the vast territory of the Eastern part of Ukraine (about 300 000 km2). The study area lasts from the Ukrainian south steppy region (with mean annual temperature +10,1°C) to the northern forest region (Polissia) (with mean annual temperature +8,1°C). The most North-eastern point is in Kharkiv region (Vovchansk village), the North-western - Kyiv region (Hrebinky village), the South-western is Odesa region (Odesa city), the Eastern - Lugansk region (Lysychansk city, and the Western one is Kropyvnytskyi city.

Sampling

Information about findings of P. kuhlii in groups or individual findings was noted by citizens through the call-centre of the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark. All individuals were delivered from the finding place to the BRC FE for further rescue and rehabilitation. In all bats sex, age, and reproductive state were identified, the forearm length (accurate withing 0.1 mm) and body mass (accurate 0.1 g) were measured; all bats were ringed.

Method steps

  1. All individuals were delivered from the finding place to the BRC FE for further rescue and rehabilitation.
