Records of fish and aquatic invertebrates made in Ukraine during 2008-2023 field studies

Study Extent

This dataset consists of a number of points where fish species were registered on the territory of Ukraine from 2008 to 2023.

Sampling

The dataset was created using the Microsoft Excel computer program. The Database includes the species of fish that were registered in the catches of juvenile flounder, pond nets, traps, and hook fishing gear in various reservoirs of Ukraine for the period from 2008 to 2023 as part of the work of the Institute of Fisheries of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. A significant majority of catches were carried out as part of the annual monitoring of young fish in the shallow waters of the Kaniv, Kamianka, Kremenchug and Kyiv reservoirs of the Dnieper River cascade.

Quality Control

The authors are fully responsible for the quality of data provided within this dataset.

Method steps

1. Conducting of field research.
2. Check of the results of the catches organised on the investigation sites.
3. Identification of fish species that were caught along with invertebrates that were caught accidentally.
4. Georeferencing of the records.
5. Organizing of the dataset according to the Darwin Core standards.

The dataset consists of records of hydrobionts: fish and aquatic invertebrates.

The dataset shows records made on the entire territory of Ukraine, namely Zakarpattia, Volyn, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Kirovohrad administrative regions of the country.
