The Iziko SA Museum’s marine invertebrate collection is one of the largest and most comprehensive in Africa, and as such is an important collection for marine invertebrate systematists. The collection comprises ~130,000 lots of specimens (including un-accessioned material). Eleven hand-written catalogues exist for marine invertebrates dating back to 1871 and includes 76,184 entries.Taxonomic Coverages
