Description

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science paleontology collection contains over 80,000 cataloged Items. The strengths of the collection include the fauna and flora of the Kinney Brick Pennsylvanian Lagerstätten, Permian trackways and traces, Triassic tetrapods, Late Cretaceous invertebrates and reptiles, Paleocene mammals and reptiles, and Neogene mammals.

Purpose

The paleontology collection preserves and interprets the distinctive natural and scientific heritage of paleontology in New Mexico and is held for research, exhibits and programs designed to ignite a passion for lifelong learning.
