Plant-parasitic nematodes of Republic of Karelia

Description

The data set includes data on soil-inhabiting plant-parasitic nematode species, known from the territory of Republic of Karelia. The data set is based on micro slides of nematodes and nematode individuals fixed in TAF.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

Republic of Karelia, 1999-2012

Sampling

Soil samples were collected from the upper soil layer (0-10 cm)

Method steps

  1. Nematodes were extracted from the soil by the modified Berman`s funnel method, fixed with TAF (triethanolamine, formalin, and water mixed at a ratio of 2 : 7 : 91) (van Bezooijen, 2006), and identified up to species level in temporary glycerol micro slides. The nematode quantity was assessed per 100 g of soil. Data digitization was made with MS Access and MS Excel.
