Mobilized data of amphibian and reptile specimens housed in the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe. Specimens were collected through out the country from 1933 to 2023. These specimens are preserved either in ethanol 70% (amphibians and lizards) and snakes are preserved in 70% ethanol for small species and 5% formalin for large specimens (pythons, cobras, vipers). Specimens were collected using pitfall traps and active searching of micro habitats, with some specimens being brought in by the general public.Additional info
This project was funded by the JRS Biodiversity Foundation which was established in 2007, with a mission of access to biological information to continue the knowledge of biodiversity through grant making and advocacy, to put knowledge into decision makers who influence biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa.Taxonomic Coverages
