Confidence in this data has to be described as relatively low because of the nature of the historical records. Nevertheless care has been taken to ensure accuracy wherever possible. Most MBRP records have come from expert determiners and experienced naturalists but a systematic species verification process has only been carried out for some taxonomic groups. This work is ongoing. MBRP relies on both the honesty and accuracy of recorders, but cannot rule out instances of either deliberate or accidental misidentification. Records which did not pass the validation checks in NBN Export Format Addin during export from Recorder6 have not been included. All records in this dataset have passed the NBN Record Cleaner validation but 6% of records failed species verification.

Method steps

1. Various methods of data capture, either depending on the survey methodology or the route from field recorder. Data is derived from a variety of sources, herbarium specimens, publications, recording cards/paper and individual reports. All our records are collated into a networked Recorder6 (dictionary version 3B) database.
