Description

The Ecology section is one of the four sections in the department of forest conservation and protection of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan. As part of her mandate, the section ensures the protection and conservation of natural resources in-situ. The first Strict Nature Reserve (SNR 1) was established in Omo Forest Reserve in the Ijebu area of Ogun State, Nigeria by the Forest Research Institute of Nigeria. It was one of the SNRs initiated to help conserve forest resources, but later upgraded to a Biosphere status. The current dataset therefore, represents some tree species enumerated within the Strict Nature Resereve of Omo Biosphere Reserve. It contains 67 records and was compiled by the Section in 1946.
