Description

Hebarium of Yuganskiy State Nature Reserve is a systematic collection of the vascular plants and mosses. Collection was started for purpose to represent typical flora species for the middle taiga of Western Siberia ecosystems. Following dataset provides the occurrences list for 862 digitized specimens. Taxonomical structures of the digitized part of the Yuganskiy State Nature Reserve Herbarium includes the total number of species represented – 331, genera represented – 185, families represented – 55. The largest families are Cyperaceae (17%) and Poaceae (15%) Specimens belong to Tracheophyta phylum: Liliopsida 45%, Magnoliopsida 49%, Polypodiopsida 4% The majority of specimens (87%) were collected in Bolshoy Yugan river basin (Western Siberia). The archive of raw images of herbarium sheets is stored in the .nef format. If necessary, the user can request a raw image of the specimens in the scientific department of the Yuganskiy State Nature Reserve by e-mail nauka@ugansky.ru.

Purpose

The database was created with the aim of mobilizing knowledge about the taiga vegetation of Western Siberia.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

State Nature Reserve Yuganskiy.

Sampling

Standard herbarium collection.

Quality Control

51% of the specimens have bin cited in 4 publications. Images and annotations of specimens are available on the web site http://ugansky.ru/activities/scientific/encyclopedya/.

Method steps

  1. The plants were collected, spread on newspaper sheets and placed in a herbarium press.
  2. Drying was carried out indoors to an air-dry state.
  3. Dried plants were fixed on sheets of A3 white paper by sewing. Thread knots were located on the face side of the sample.
  4. The front of the samples was covered with parchment paper.
  5. Specimens are stored in boxes with systematic labels.
  6. The original photos were taken with a camera Nikon D90 using an AF-S MICRO NIKKOR 60MM F / 2.8G ED macro lens and a stock flash light.
  7. The geometry and lighting of the images have been minimally adjusted using the tools of the program ACDSee Pro 5.
  8. The raw images and corrected photo are stored in the Yuganskiy State Nature Reserve scientific archive.
