Description

A list of the tracheophyte names accepted in "Flora Nizhnego Dona" [= Flora of Lower Don] (Zozulin & Fedyaeva, 1984, 1985). The source covers Rostov Oblast, as well as western half of Volgograd Oblast (within the Don River Basin). The area covered by the original source is almost equalling historical Don Host Oblast (Oblast Voyska Donskogo), the first-level administrative unit in Russia bedfore 1917. The dataset was compiled as a first step towards further processing of the modern checklist for Rostov Oblast, Russia.

Stable archival version (not edited, not curated).

The dataset includes 1,703 accepted species names, i.e. native and cultivated plants recorded as escapes (historical records are included). Cultivated plants uknown as escapes (293 species), plants mentioned as possible records (35 species) and uncertain and dubious records from older literature (largely by Stankov & Taliev) (43 species) are excluded.

Several minor orthographic errors in either scientific names or their authors were corrected manually. Some names were not automatically cross-linked with the GBIF backbone.
