The field workshop on data publishing was organized in the Ecological park "Yugra" as part of the student field practice of Nizhnevartovsk State University. The course program included theoretical part on biodiversity open data publishing and citizen science initiatives in biodiversity. The practical course included field trips for biodiversity inventory and evening sessions on data publishing in GBIF and iNaturalist platform. The field workshop was attended by 59 people (students and teachers) from 4 cities of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra. The dataset presents species records of vascular plants, fungi and animals collected during the inventories.Purpose
The purpose of this dataset is mainly educational, intend to show the results of the inventory work for students to be published as a GBIF dataset open data. It is also a first dataset published through the account of the Ecological center and contains important observations of plants, fungi and animals recorded in the park.
Sampling Description
Study Extent
The field work during the workshop included assessment of four groups: animals, fungi, vascular plants and algae. Four teachers and a group of 10-15 students were inventorying the area for about 2 hours, including presentation of the methods and the sampling. The routes were located in the proximity of the campus (1-2 km longevity of routes).Sampling
The inventory had the main goal of student field practice and is not scientifically complete.Method steps
- The inventory of vascular plants was done using the method of standard geobotanical description using 10x10 m plots and herbarium sampling.
- The collection of macrofungi and lichens was according to a standard protocol described in (Mueller et al., 2004, Biodiversity of fungi...).
- The zoological inventory included direct observations, binoculars and voice recording (for birds).
- The sampling of algae was done using the plankton net and the direct sampling of surface foulings.
Taxonomic Coverages
Geographic Coverages
The field routes were located in the proximity of the campus, including the area of an outdoor Ethnographic museum of a tribal community "Kazamkiny", the ecological path around Possen-Lor lake, and the area of an old campus.
