The Mammal collection at UMZM consists of nearly 16,000 mammal specimens, including skins, skeletons, and frozen tissues. The majority of material was collected from 1900 to the present and represents Northern Rocky Mountain biodiversity. However, there are also several special collections including small mammals from China, Peru, and the former USSR.
Purpose
The Mammal collection is used primarily for research, but also for teaching and outreach as relevant.
