Soil macrofauna communities were evaluated in an organic agroforestry production system and in initial native vegetation regeneration at an area managed and owned by the Assentamento Contestado, in Lapa, Paraná, Brazil. Sampling was performed in April 2016 in three areas with agroforestry systems including various vegetables, pasture grasses and orchard trees like figs, peaches, pears, apples, pecans, and persimmons. Samples were taken using the standard methodology of the Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility Programme (TSBF), where soil (down to 20 cm depth) and litter fauna were hand-sorted from monoliths of 25x25 cm, and the abundance of a total of 42 taxa was assessed.
