Laikipia Samburu Aerial Census (2008)

Purpose

To determine wildlife abundance in the ecosystem

Sampling Description

Laikipia-Samburu Ecosystem

Sampling

Systematic transects were used. Census block maps were developed with predetermined transects lengths and widths.

Quality Control

Datasets were processed by the GIS personnel to remove double counts especially at the edge of the counting blocks

Method steps

  1. Census carried out after every three years depending on the availability of funds.
