List of species of the family Caryophyllaceae of Central Kazakhstan

According to the results of the research, it was revealed that the Caryophyllaceae family of Central Kazakhstan is represented by 29 genera and 91 species. The largest genera are Tar – Silene (21 species), Carnation – Dianthus (11 species), Stellaria – Stellaria (7 species), Kachim – Gypsophila (6 species). Among them there are useful plants with medicinal values, decorative medicinal, fodder, poisonous, etc.

Central Kazakhstan (Karaganda region) occupies the middle position in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the area is 428 thousand km2. The main part of the region is located in the Central Kazakhstan Sary-Arka melkosopochnik, in the southeastern part the melkosopochnik passes into the Karkaralinsky massifs, dissected by intermountain depressions, gorges and river valleys. In the western part, the Kyzyltas and Ulytau Mountains stretch. In the southwest begins the border of the sand massifs - Karakum, Mynbulak, Aryskum, Moyinkum; in the south - the northern edge of the Betpakdala desert. The territory of Central Kazakhstan (Karaganda region) is located within the 10 continental West Siberian Steppe zone. The climate of the steppe zone of Central Kazakhstan is characterized by sharp continentality, which is expressed in large fluctuations in daily, monthly, seasonal temperatures and moisture deficiency. A large geographical extent, a variety of soil, orographic, climatic factors and relief determined the rich species composition of Central Kazakhstan. However, to date, the floral composition of the carnation family has not been fully studied. Based on the above, the purpose of our work was to compile a complete species list.
