The data is the result of a literature review on the birds of The Atewa Range Forest Reserve. This is a checklist that was compiled by Lindsell et. al., 2019 in the Biodiversity of Atewa Forest report which drew on the publication by Dowsetts-Lemaire and Dowsetts, 2005; the Conservation International RAP report (McCullough et al. 2007) and other published online sources. The data have been mobilized by the staff of the A Rocha Ghana and A Rocha International under the project "Raising the profile of data for the conservation of four forested African landscapes" funded by GBIF's BID programme, and coordinated by A Rocha Kenya. The mobilised data consist of observation records of birds from Atewa Range Forest Reserve in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The data are based on records currently available in the Biodiversity of Atewa Report by Lindsell et. al., 2019.Purpose
This dataset aims to provide current and comprehensive data on the diversity of Birds within the Atewa Range Forest Reserve.
Sampling Description
Study Extent
The data was originally collected in the Atewa Range Forest Reserve in the Eastern Region of Ghana.Sampling
This is a checklist of birds mobilized from a literature review. This checklist was compiled by Lindsell et. al., 2019 in the Biodiversity of Atewa Forest report which drew on the publication by Dowsetts-Lemaire and Dowsetts, 2005; the Conservation International RAP report (McCullough et al. 2007) and other published online sources.Quality Control
The data was originally entered into an excel spreadsheet. Data was formatted using Darwin Core and scientific names verified using the Global Name Resolver tool. acceptednameUsuage and Scientific Authorship were verified using the GBIF Backbone Taxonomy on the Global Name Resolver.Method steps
- Data from the Biodiversity of Atewa report which is the basis for the dataset was compiled from databases of scientific papers, project reports and a number of unpublished but verifiable observations. The most important published source of data for Atewa Forest is from the Rapid Assessment Programme survey in 2006 (McCullough et. al., 2007).
