Mammal ocurrences in vineyards of Andalusia (Spain)

Study Extent

25 vineyards (Vitis vinifera var. tempranillo) plots, located in several localities and provinces of Andalusia, Spain.

Sampling

Between April-July 2017 mammals presence and diversity was estimated on 25 vineyards plots (var tempranillo) by searching faeces on 12 (20m * 2m) linear transects. First 6 transects were set on the borders of the plot, while the other 6 were set between the vineyard rows (1 transect per row). For each faeces found the species of the mammal was registered on the field, and the faeces put in a plastic bag, store in cold and sent to the lab. Later, faeces were desegregated in the lab and the seeds found on them were counted and identified to morphospecies.

Method steps

1. For the preparation of the occurrences and event tables we used the coordinates of the centroid of each plot. And registered presences and absences of records (number of faeces found for each mammal species) for each plot. Ocurrences of the species of mammals found in the transects were recorded based on the number of faeces found for each transect.
