Entocytheridae (Ostracoda) World Database

Citation

Description

Georreferenced world database of species of the ostracod family Entocytheridae, based on published information.

Purpose

Investigations on the biogeography of the Entocytheridae ostracods.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

Global published information on the presence of living individuals of the Family Entocytheridae.

Sampling

Data obtained from published and unpublished scientific literature or own data. Samples of Entocytheridae obtained by collecting their hosts (crayfish and other crustaceans) by hand or traps, etc. and filtering the fixative (ethanol, formalin) or medium (carbonated water, habitat water) where the hosts were stored.

Method steps

  1. Search the literature databases, find original sources citing the presence of an Entocytheridae anywhere in the world. Note the species cited and the location. Find the (aprox.) coordinates for the location.

Taxonomic Coverages

Family Entocytheridae, a group belonging to the Class Ostracoda (Crustacea), which live as ectosymbionts (commensals) on other crustaceans.
