Description

Dataset with records of otter and mink signs made during the period of the survey.

Purpose

The survey was carried out to establish the current status of otters in Ireland, and to formulate recommendations for the species monitoring.

Sampling Description

Quality Control

Surveys carried out by TCD contractors and NPWS staff. Quality control and training was an important part of the survey methodology. Data is of a high quality.

Method steps

  1. Full details of the data capture methodology is available in NPWS IWM No. 23. Searches for otter signs were made at 525 pre-selected sites across the country.
