Mission

Our vision is to provide free and open access to biodiversity data and support national biodiversity science, environmental research, and evidence-based decision-making. Our mission is to facilitate national coordination and dissemination of biodiversity information, biodiversity research and capacity development for promoting global open access to biodiversity data.

Structure

Our node is structured as follows: Head of Delegation, Node Manager and Additional Delegate and two Committees, the Steering Committee and the Technical Committee.

The Steering Committee consists of representatives from: Ministry of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry; Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and. Rural Resettlement; Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development; Bindura University of Science Education (Secretariat), Research Council of Zimbabwe; Business Council for Sustainable development; UNDP in Zimbabwe; Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries; Attorney General’s Office.

The Technical Committee is composed of experts from different institutions in Zimbabwe covering a range of scientific disciplines including zoology, botany, mycology, entomology, ecology, ornithology, itchiology, herpetology, environmental science, GIS, biostatistics, etc.
