GBIFエビー・ニールセン・チャレンジは、科学者、情報科学者、データモデラー、地図製作者および他の分野の専門家によるオープンアクセスの生物多様性データの革新的な応用の奨励を目的とする年次奨励賞です。
2020年GBIFエビー・ニールセン・チャレンジへの応募受付 は終了しました。受賞者は、2020年10月の第27回GBIF理事会の前後に発表の予定です。
エビー・ニールセン・チャレンジは、以前のエビー・ニールセン・プライズ同様、生物系統学および生物多様性情報学分野における偉大なリーダーかつGBIFの主要な創設者の一人であった Ebbe Schmidt Nielsen博士を記念 しています。残念ながら、同博士はGBIFが本格的に始動する直前に亡くなりました。
コンペティションの焦点は年々進化しており、チャレンジのエントリーは新しい分析研究、より充実した政策関連の視覚化、Webおよびモバイルアプリケーション、あるいはデータのデジタル化、品質、アクセスに関わるプロセスの向上など、様々な形式とアプローチをとっています。
