See also Haemaphysalis anomala for its confusion with Haemaphysalis bancrofti.
discussion
An Australasian species with one record in the Oriental Zoogeographic Region, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Diprotodontia: Macropodidae, but they have also been recovered from Diprotodontia: Phascolarctidae. Adults and nymphs have been collected from Artiodactyla: Bovidae, Carnivora: Canidae, Peramelemorphia: Peramelidae, and Perissodactyla: Equidae. Adults and larvae have been taken from Dasyuromorphia: Dasyuridae; adult ticks alone have been found on Artiodactyla: Suidae, and Carnivora: Felidae; immature stages have been recovered from Diprotodontia: Phalangeridae and Potoroidae, and Cuculiformes: Cuculidae. Haemaphysalis bancrofti is a sporadic parasite of humans.
