Symposium organized jointly by Biodiversa+ and GBIF, to discuss the requirements for national biodiversity monitoring hubs in the context of proposals for a European Biodiversity Observation Coordination Centre.
The symposium, which follows a similar event in Brussels in October 2022 alongside the 29th GBIF Governing Board, will explore how GBIF national nodes can support such hubs, and discuss the need for coordination of GBIF activity at the EU level. It is held in association with a number of meetings over three days in Helsinki and Tallinn, Estonia, linked to the launch of 23 projects funded through the BiodivMon call, to support transnational monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem change.
In-person attendance is by invitation only, but virtual attendance is welcome for GBIF Heads of Delegation, Node Managers and nodes staff for Participants in the Europe and Central Region.
