2026 Virtual Data Mobilization Workshop for Southern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (English)

The GBIF Regional Support Team for Europe and Central Asia is organizing a virtual training workshop on biodiversity data mobilization and publication to strengthen the capacity of institutions in SE Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia to mobilize, manage and publish biodiversity data through GBIF.

The workshop is based on the GBIF Biodiversity Data Mobilization curriculum and will guide participants through the main steps of the data mobilization workflow, including data capture, data management, and data publishing. The training will combine self-paced learning, live virtual sessions, and practical assignments, leading to GBIF certification at either the basic or advanced levels.
The workshop will be conducted in English.

Workshop structure:

1. 28 Sept–9 Oct 2026 : Preparatory course activities (online self-paced)
2. 12–16 Oct 2026 : Virtual workshop (Zoom sessions and online self-paced, estimated 3 hours per day)
3. 19 Oct–2 Nov 2026 : Certification exercises (online self-paced)

Due to limited capacity, a maximum of 30 participants will be selected.
